Tammy is a member of the Navajo Tribe, born in 1982 in Gallup, New Mexico. She has autism and has been non-verbal most of her life. Art has become an essential means of communication and expression for her. Since her participation in the Flagstaff Hozhoni Art Program began in 2004, Tammy has explored a variety of mediums including clay, textiles, paint and collages. Her work consists mostly of repetitive, abstract designs. Tammy makes every piece a multi-sensory experience, paying close attention to sounds, smells and tactile properties.
