Big thank you to Artists Coalition for including us in such an awesome experience ! Our Artists had a blast and were able to meet a lot of new people whom admired their work. We always enjoy opening our doors and sharing our work with the public. Thanks again for stopping by to see us!
We want to say thank you so much to Shay Williams for putting together this awesome photography class!!! Tomorrow from 2-5 here at the Hozhoni Art Gallery we will be showing off everyone’s hard work in their first ever photography show. Shay worked very hard in creating a class that was both fun and a lot very hard work over the last 2 years. We are very grateful to her and her efforts in this project.
We wanted to give a big shout out to Mary Griffin, our guest instructor for the Cyanotype workshop, our incredible staff, and our always fabulous Jackie Perkins for directing the workshop. We would also like to think our grant providers for allowing us this opportunity to reach out to our community and offer these classes. Despite scattered thunderstorms, we had a great time and made some pretty cool prints for our upcoming photography show!
Hozhoni will be hosting a free cyanotype workshop here at the Art studio and gallery. Cyanotype is a photographic printing process that produces a cyan-blue print. Engineers used the process well into the 20th century as a simple and low-cost process to produce copies of drawings, referred to as blueprints. The process uses two chemicals: ammonium iron(III) citrate and potassium ferricyanide. We will be using the Sun to help develop our pictures, the process only takes a few minutes to complete but creates a unique photographic effect. Come join our artists in exploring a new medium.
