We are very thankful that we get other artists from the community to come in to our studio and work with the artists. This is a great opportunity to challenge the artists to think in different ways, and explore mediums and techniques they otherwise might not have wanted to try before.
Ink Class with Chris Taylor – When Chris came to our studio, he taught the artists to paint using ink. During this class, they explored creating images that reflected the American west. Later they able to use these skills when they went to NAU to participate in the 2015 Wall Draw.
Art Camp with Baje Whitethorne Sr. – For a week during the summer, Native artist Baje Whitethorne Sr. came to our studio to teach the artists how to tell a story using art. Step by step he taught the artists about sketching, composition, color, and medium. At the end of the week, we had a beautiful mural, and in the fall we had a reception with the work we created during the camp.
