Hozhoni Art Gallery

The Hozhoni Art Gallery, opened in 2007, is dedicated to the works of individuals with disabilities – the first of its kind in the Southwest. The purpose of the Gallery is to integrate these artists into the mainstream art community and to assure the best quality art program Hozhoni can provide by increasing the overall exposure of their artwork. The artists are showcased through various exhibits throughout the year and the profits made from sales supplement the artists’ income directly. The exhibits increase public awareness and interest in the artistic capabilities and achievements of people with disabilities.

A new exhibition of works by talented artists with developmental disabilities opens every 10 weeks in this modern gallery space. These exhibits display works in mediums including oil, acrylic, watercolor, collage, mixed media, sculpture, and film. Silk-screened T-shirts and scarves, cards and other items with the artists’ works are also available for purchase in the gallery.

Although focused on artists with disabilities, the Hozhoni Art Gallery regularly hosts exhibits which are inclusive and collaborative with other local community artists.  Some previous exhibitions have been:

•       Dreaming Raven Installation
•       Gentle Laughter from the Circle
•       Spiral Echoes in the Hands of Dawn
