Our Artists have put together a super show (pun intended) examining what is a super hero and what makes them super. Is a bus driver a super hero? According to our artist Delphine D. , they most definitely are since “they get the kids to school on time and safe”. Featuring original super hero creations and costumes as well as community collaborations through Art Van this is a unique look Super Hero content. We will also have a trailer put together by our New Media class as their first official project called Bat Jeff and will also feature a behind the scenes for the filming and development. We have the videos posted on our Facebook for you to check out, let us know what you think !

Congratulations to our many talented artists who worked on our Mermaid for the Recycled Arts Show with Flagstaff Artist Coalition. We won the category of “Best Use of Materials” and received wide acclaim from the art community. We are so very proud of this sculpture and the artists who worked diligently over the last 4 months creating this underwater scene. Supplies included coffee filters, melted straws, toothpick urchins and various other recycled materials to create our life size mermaid. Many of artists were able to attend the reception and received quite the praise from onlookers and fellow artists displaying. If you would like to see our beautiful trophy and stunning art, you can check it out at the Artists Coalition Gallery in the Flagstaff Mall displayed with several other whimsical and creative pieces.
We have more pictures to post soon, here is a tease!
We recently did a number of workshops with Lou Corp, Tungland, and Quality Connections resulting in this amazing puzzle piece installation. This piece is very representative of how we are all different but we work together to be a much bigger picture in the world of art and disabilities. As we take time to reflect in this month and the cognitive difference we share with others we also focus on how we are alike and what we bring to the table as artists. We are very proud to have the opportunity to work with so many varied artists in our community.
We create art and draw because it is rooted in the need to relate to our world. This month we are featuring artists with autism who show us a unique perspective into their world view through art. This exhibit will include sculpture, photography, and mixed media showcasing the artists various talents and strengths. We will also be featuring a collaborative piece with 3 other facilities through our Art Van program. National Autism day takes place on April 2nd and kicks off this exciting and unique exhibit for us.
Exhibit open April 2nd – April 30th
Gallery Hours are Monday through Friday from 8:30 am – 3:45 pm

Arthur is the newest edition to our innovative and talented artists here at Hozhoni. Arthur was originally born in Hawaii but has called Flagstaff home for a few years. Arthur calls himself a pen and ink kind of guy but also enjoys other mediums such as pencils, digital art and clay. He is looking forward to working with new mediums for him such as acrylic and watercolor. Arthur loves that art is a way for him to put his ideas on paper and be able to work them out. We are very excited for him to join this group and continue to grow as an artist!
We will be open from 5 – 8 pm this Friday to participate in this month’s East Side Art Experience. Come join us for a free weaving workshop, refreshments, gallery and studio tour. Pin It
