
Richard Rapley was born in Augusta, Montana on August 14th, 1957 and came to the Flagstaff Hozhoni program in 1990 where he currently resides. Richard was diagnosed with Autism later in life and has used art as a way of communicating things he has trouble verbalizing. He has always been creative and worked with several mediums including acrylic, watercolor, beadwork, ceramics, weaving and collage. His influences include pop art, numbers and counting, transportation, bottles as well as nature. Richard enjoys focusing on the small details of ordinary objects and everyday life around him.
